Frequently Asked Questions

If you have additional questions, please feel free to email me.  bkenneyfineart@myfairpoint.net

These are some of the most common questions asked.

 1. HOW DO I BUY AN ORIGINAL?

I create as many paintings as possible and release them either individually or in collections on my website a few times per year.   Notification of new releases are advertised before hand via social media, my mailing list, and on my blog.  These original paintings tend to go pretty quickly, so be sure to be prompt!
Originals are released first to my  Collector's Club, and Email List.   If you'd like first previews join here.

  2. CAN I COMMISSION A PAINTING?

I am considering accepting up to one commission per month, on a scheduled basis.  Particularly pieces that resemble my current body of work.  I hope to follow my creative path naturally and I am exploring new ways to create unique pieces, such as the Nature Relief Paintings.   I would like to make more of my work available for my collectors.   I plan to create a body of work with both large and small pieces.   So keep watch for the special painting that speaks to you!  If I should have an opening to create a commissioned piece, I'll be sure to announce it to my Collector's Group and my email list first, so be sure to stay tuned for those announcements.

3.  REPRODUCTION AND PRINT DETAILS?

The Giclee reproductions in the Best of Pittsburg Collection are created on 100% cotton rag, acid free paper, for archival longevity.   Each is printed to order, so it may take up to 2-3 weeks to arrive back in my studio, where it is signed, numbered in the print edition,  framed (if requested) and carefully packaged to ship out to you asap.  The print image size is in ratio to the original painting in the collection, so please note the size differences in the product descriptions of each print.   These Giclee prints may be ordered framed in a warm espresso wood frame, with a UV protective clear acrylic sheet, and an acid free foam core backing.  If framed, the prints are ready for immediate display.

Other Giclee reproductions may be made available from time to time on archival paper, on canvas, or as a digital photographic print.   Be sure to watch for announcements of new releases!

4. CAN I ARRANGE TO PICK UP MY ARTWORK IN PERSON?

Absolutely!  You are welcome & encouraged to contact me to arrange to pick up your original artwork in person.   Use the option for "Local Pickup" at checkout to forgo shipping fees altogether and we will work out a time to meet via email.  bkenneyfineart@myfairpoint.net   Please note:   My available time for in person delivery is usually limited to week days during the summer months.

5. RETURNS:

Every order, commission, and sale is handled with great care,  and with as much clarity and transparency as possible.  My goal is for you to be completely thrilled with your purchase!  Please take the time to read descriptions carefully and to check colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations.   I try my best to represent the colors and tones in my work honestly and clearly.

All sales of original COMMISSIONED artwork is final.

Please open and check your order immediately upon receiving it.  I accept returns of original paintings or print exchanges and returns only if notified within 7 days of receipt.   If you have not contacted me within 7 days, I will be unable to accept a return.   Returns must be sent back in the original packaging.  I cannot provide a refund or exchange if a painting or print is damaged in transit due to poor packaging.   It is not possible to restock and sell damaged paintings or prints, so please be sure to package your artwork with care!

 6. HOW WILL  MY ARTWORK BE SHIPPED?

Originals:

  • Oil paintings take a substantial amount of time to dry, and varnishing extends the drying time.   I can not ship a painting before it is ready to be packaged, which may take up to 3-4  weeks from painting completion.

  • All original artwork is wrapped and padded carefully, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box.

  • Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS and most packages arrive within 2-4 days (domestic) from time of shipping (includes tracking & insurance).   Currently, I am not shipping to locations outside the US and Canada.

Prints:

  • All prints are handled with the utmost care.   Unframed paper prints are packaged beautifully in paper or plastic sleeve.   Framed prints are wrapped carefully, padded and secured within a sturdy cardboard box.

  • Unframed prints 11 x 14 and smaller are mailed in a sturdy flat mailer while prints 16x20 and larger are mailed in a thick tube.  Unframed canvas prints on stretcher bars, are wrapped securely between foam core, and shipped in a sturdy cardboard box.

  • Shipped via USPS 1st Class Mail or Priority Mail (usually arrives within 1-3 days within the US)

7. SHIPPING COSTS

These are calculated at checkout in good faith based on the dollar amount of your order.  Insurance is applied based on the value of your order.   Shipping carrier charges, frame weights, and other factors may cause the actual cost to be more or less than the amount calculated at check out.   If actual costs are calculated at a difference of $5.00 or more, I will let you know by email.   Additional charges should be paid, prior to shipment of your artwork.  Refunds for overages will be made within 7 days of shipment.  Shipping costs cover fees, packaging supplies, time, labor, and storage.

8.  MY ARTWORK ARRIVED DAMAGED, WAS LOST, OR STOLEN.   CAN YOU HELP?

I can not be liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service,  (USPS, or UPS) or for damages incurred during or after delivery.   I will take great care to insure your artwork is packaged so it will arrive safely.   If your painting or print is damaged in transit, we will handle each situation on a case by case basis.  It may be necessary for you to contact the carrier directly, to file a shipping claim.  I am unable to replace for free any paintings or prints damaged after delivery, so please place your artwork in a place away from possible contact, and water or heat damage.  Handle the artwork with care and hire a professional when framing.

If your package is marked "Delivered", and is nowhere to be found, please verify you provided the correct shipping address.   Should a package be returned I am happy to forward it to your correct address.  In this case, I do ask that you pay for the additional postage or shipping fees.    I am unable to replace for free any order that has not been delivered, lost or stolen.

9. CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, AND RETREATS

I enjoy sharing my love of art with other creatives.   Painting classes, workshops, or retreats are offered about 1-3 times throughout the year, and are so much fun for me, and for those who attend!   Sign up for my

mailing list to stay up to date on when and where these will be happening!

10. RIGHTS?  WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE PAINTING?

I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings.   I retain the right to make REPRODUCTIONS OF ANY AND ALL ARTWORK I CREATE UNLESS THE COLLECTOR HAS PURCHASED THE FULL OR PARTIAL RIGHTS TO THE ARTWORK (this is in addition to purchasing the original).

The Collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission.

If the artwork is to be reproduced in a magazine or other media, it should also include attribution to me as the artist.

When you purchase an original painting you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business.   If the artwork is resold, or passed on to an heir or family member, notification of the transaction should be sent to either me directly, or to my heirs or assigns, at the last known address published for Brenda L.B. Kenney Fine Art.  This helps to protect your investment by continuing the provenance of the artwork.

Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights to your painting.  Some collectors may choose to purchase my right to reproduce the artwork to ensure it will never become a print.  I am totally happy to discuss that with you if you would like!
