As we kayaked to the mouth of the Connecticut River at Third Connecticut Lake, we came across this lily reaching for the sun in the gentle flow of summer.   It stood alone, but resilient, non-wavering in the cool current.  Stretching toward the light, it showed a strength that only we were there to see.
